Here's the deal... you're on the road. Maybe it's a family vacation... maybe it's a business trip. Whatever the reason, you find yourself in an unknown city with an afternoon, or even a full day to kill. Perhaps you simply can't handle another day lounging on the beach or by the pool. The spouse gives you a "hall pass" for the day and there's a whole ocean out your door, or you drove by a lake or river on the way into town. You remember gazing longingly at a boat on the water.

Assured Strike Fishing Pole Holder

Assured Strike Fishing Pole Holder

If you love to fish like I do, chances are you have found yourself fishing from the bank at one time or another. Chances are you have also probably sat back, relaxed, and used a forked stick to hold your favorite fishing rod. You rummaged through nearby woods and found just the right branch broke off all the little branches to form that perfect Y shape. You baited up, cast out, and then set your rod down in the fork stick waiting for your favorite fish to give you some excitement. Although many of us may have moved on to different methods, this method is always one I seem to do throughout the year at different times. I was also very interested to see if this pole holder would live up to its claim of helping an angler catch fish while tight lining in windy conditions. Windy conditions typically make this type of fishing difficult.

What Fishing Means To Me

What Fishing Means To Me

By Jason McMillin

My father started taking me fishing when I was 3 years old. He taught me so much about fishing and got me very interested in fishing at such a early age, that throughout my life so far fishing has been a big part of my life style. I go fishing all of the time and enjoy it so much. My dad was my fishing buddy throughout the years but sadly my dad passed away 2 years ago and I lost my best fishing buddy I can ever have. I started fishing by myself after he has passed away, but then it accord to me that he taught me about fishing and got me into fishing so that when I had my chance I could pass fishing on to others. I have been taking my friends out fishing, some of them have never fished before or has never caught any fish. Some of my friends can’t get into it but most of them have been really happy to be fishing and catching fish that they thought they could never catch. Fishing is just more to me now more than ever that it is not just about catching fish but enjoying time with your friends and or family and enjoying the nature around you, yes catching fish is very nice but if we go out and don’t catch anything, I can say we had a good time and enjoyed the nature around us. When I have kids I hope to be able to teach them to fish like my dad has taught me.

A Bass Pro Christmas

A Bass Pro Christmas
— by Jeremiah T. Bagwell

Christmas is a special time of year for all of us. We typically spend the day running around from one family member's house to another. Our bellies are so full they feel like they could burst. We pass out gifts and open those we receive and watch the

kids run around like little excitement filled Tasmanian Devils. They leave nothing but a trail of wrapping paper in their paths. It is just a wonderful time of year for us normal, everyday anglers. But what is it like if you are one of the top rated Professional Bass Anglers in the World? Chances are, it is very similar no matter who you are.

Bass Fishing in Florida

Bass Fishing in Florida
by Charles Stuart
I wanted to share with our readers a recent bass fishing trip I made with my wife Linda and my good friend Steve Sergeant, to Orlando, Florida.

"Stevo" and I had to fly to Florida on business and Linda was coming along for a well deserved break! Our first morning was going to be "open", so the fishing trip seemed like a great idea.

Searching through the Internet looking for a sensibly priced, reliable fishing guide service can be a daunting task. As a New York State guide and professional tournament fisherman, you can imagine how particular I am when it comes to choosing someone to take me fishing!

Bass Fishing, not a guys thing anymore

Bass Fishing, not a
Guy's Thing Anymore
By Roger Lee Brown The Bass Coach

Well, finally after all the years of enjoying the sport of bass fishing I have noticed that more and more women (and girls) are taking a considerable liking to this wonderful sport. In fact, in the last five years during the operation of my 3-day "On-Water" Bass Fishing School and Bass Fishing Charter Service located here on Lake Champlain and Lake George, NY, I have had a tremendous increase of women (and girl) students enroll in my school as well as booking bass charter trips each year, and I really must say that it really gets me excited to see them enjoy all the fun and excitement they’ve been missing out on for so long.

Bass Fishing in Winter

Bass Fishing in Winter
by Charles Stuart
Fishing for bass during the late fall and winter months can be a daunting task.

During the regular season, you have identifiable structure to fish, vegetation is in bloom and the sun offers you shaded areas, which will produce fish during the heat of the day. Winter however does not give you any of those visible signs. So what do you do? Well once again, you must turn to your understanding of the bass and its lifestyle during these "lean months". When I use the word lean, I am referring to the food chain which can be drastically reduced by the elements. Exceptionally cold weather can kill smaller fish and aquatic life leaving the bass only a limited diet for 3 or 4 months. You will often hear bass fishermen talking about the "big feed" prior to winter, when bass will eat anything and everything to carry them through till Spring.

Bass Tournament "Shortcuts"

Bass Tournament "Shortcuts"

Have you ever noticed whether it be Club Tournaments, Divisional Tournaments (B.A.S.S. Federation, Red Man, Anglers Choice, etc.) and even the Pro Tournaments, usually you will see a hand full of the same anglers consistently "In-The-Money" most of the time. Then while you’re driving home after fishing some of these tournaments without much success you ask yourself "What are these anglers doing so different than I am."

There are many different reasons for these same anglers to consistently "Cash-In" or "Place in the money" fishing Bass Tournaments, and I hope that I can help you with some "In-Site" on what keeps some of these anglers successful when it comes to tournament fishing.

COOPER LAKE MONSTER BASS

COOPER LAKE MONSTER BASS
By: Jim Holderfield

The sun was just peaking above the horizon when Cooper Lake Guide Marc Mitchell fired up the Mercury on his Cobra Bass Boat and headed for some of his favorite bass spots. A little chop on the water and the cooler temperatures assured he would have a challenging day looking for Monster Bass on Cooper.

This day started at 5:30AM when he met my son Danny and me at the Burton’s Restaurant, right next to the Best Western Motel in Suphur Springs Texas. This location is convenient to both Cooper and Fork, where Marc offers guided trips. Both these lakes have gained a reputation throughout the U.S. as one of the top candidates for an opportunity to catch trophy Bass.
